Research
Laboratory

The Research Library holds what we have made available. The Laboratory holds what we are still trying to understand.

This is the Institute's active inquiry space — where questions are sharpened, concepts are grounded, models are developed, assumptions are challenged, and future research is designed with clear boundaries between theory, evidence, and validation.

QUESTIONGROUNDMODELEXAMINEREFINEPUBLISH

Two Different Research Spaces

Published knowledge and developing inquiry should never be confused.

RESEARCH LIBRARY

What we can share.

Whitepapers, executive briefs, articles, Institute Publications, books, and doctoral-research materials that are ready for readers.

RESEARCH LABORATORY

What we are still working to understand.

Research questions, conceptual models, measurement architecture, proposed studies, limitations, and ideas that require further examination.

Research Agenda

Four connected streams of inquiry.

The Laboratory organizes the Institute's developing work by question — not by how impressive the answer sounds.

01
Conceptual development

AI, Identity & Human Infrastructure

What must people and organizations build beneath intelligent technology so humans can trust, adapt, contribute, and thrive?

  • Identity infrastructure
  • Operational Identity Gap™
  • Human readiness and agency
  • AI's effects on confidence, belonging, and professional identity
02
Measurement architecture

Measurement, Governance & Technology Resilience

How can leaders make human conditions visible without reducing people to scores or turning measurement into surveillance?

  • Identity Metrics Framework™
  • AI Governance Overlay™
  • Technology Resilient Layer™
  • Ethical measurement and interpretation
03
Exploratory architecture

Customer Intent & Enterprise Intelligence

How can organizations interpret what customers may be trying to accomplish without confusing behavior with intent?

  • Demand and experience signals
  • Customer language and digital journeys
  • Search as one enterprise signal source
  • Human judgment in AI-supported intent interpretation
04
Research direction

Tech Equity, Identity Development & Future Builders

What helps girls of color see themselves not only as users of technology, but as builders, innovators, and leaders within it?

  • Identity before achievement
  • Technology self-efficacy and persistence
  • Belonging, agency, and possibility
  • AI-era identity development

Questions on the Bench

The Laboratory begins with questions we cannot responsibly answer too quickly.

Q01

When intelligent systems change how expertise is distributed, what happens to human confidence, agency, and professional identity?

Q02

How should organizations distinguish technological capability from the human readiness required to realize its value?

Q03

What can customer behavior tell us about intent — and where does interpretation become assumption?

Q04

How might internal workforce understanding and external customer understanding become one human-centered enterprise intelligence capability?

Q05

Which identity-supporting conditions can be measured ethically, and at what level should those measures inform decisions?

Q06

What conditions help girls of color persist long enough in technology to see themselves as creators and leaders?

Research Status Language

Credibility requires saying exactly where the work stands.

Rather than simulated dashboards or unsupported readiness scores, the Laboratory uses plain-language status markers that separate established publications from ideas still being developed.

Published / Available

Released for public reading; publication status is verifiable.

Conceptual Development

A defined idea or framework being articulated and connected to existing knowledge.

In Development

A publication, instrument, model, or research design actively being prepared.

Proposed Study

A research design or pilot concept that has not yet produced findings.

Validation Required

A claim, measure, or model that requires empirical testing before stronger conclusions are appropriate.

Research Integrity

Research is not a performance of certainty.

The Laboratory is designed to preserve the difference between a compelling idea, a useful framework, a measurable construct, and an empirically supported claim.

01

Name the level of evidence.

Conceptual publications should be identified as conceptual. Proposed studies should be identified as proposed. Validation should never be implied by visual polish.

02

Measure conditions — not human worth.

Identity-related measurement should improve environments and systems, not rank people, diagnose personality, coerce behavior, or penalize individuals.

03

Keep interpretation visible.

Data and behavior do not speak for themselves. The assumptions, context, limitations, and human judgment used to interpret them should remain explicit.

04

Let the model change.

A framework should be refined when stronger evidence, better methods, or lived experience reveals that the original formulation is incomplete.

Identity Is the New Advantage

Why identity is becoming strategic infrastructure in an era of intelligent technology.

This research will examine the competitive implications of identity readiness — including trust, agency, adaptability, judgment, and the capacity to evolve alongside AI — without confusing strategic argument with empirical proof.

The Knowledge Loop

The Laboratory does not replace the Library. It feeds it.

01QUESTIONWhat do we need to understand?
02DEVELOPWhat model, method, or argument helps us examine it?
03EXAMINEWhat evidence, critique, or testing does it require?
